The Mascots Design of the 2012 London Olympics. Wenlock and Mandeville
Oct 4th, 2010 by ck
Imagine for pleasure especially to target younger and impressionable, children of school age, here is the new mascot of the 2012 London Olympics: calling Wenlock and Mandeville, the English names of two places significant in the history of the Olympic Games.
The legend that accompanies them to be forged by two drops of molten metal, the same used to build the new Olympic Stadium: aerodynamic but rounded, a single eye from cartoons and Olympic rings worn as bracelets, the two seem alien in Pixar style, a little ‘Teletubbies, a little’ monsters from Japanese manga.
Their choice is imposed, according to organizers, more on other proposals related to the English tradition as pigeons anthropomorphic animated teapots and even Big Ben in his arms and legs … going to make Wenlock and Mandeville to be loved like the bear Misha ( Moscow 1980) and Wald (Monaco 1972)?
